BreakFest
Mission
BreakFest serves
as a grassroots vanguard for the youth culture
and movement by aiding in the obliteration of the
fallacies that have tarnished the microphones of
the voiceless in America. BreakFest, now in its
third year, is a multi-faceted culmination of
visual and performing arts manifested through the
four fundamental elements of the hip hop culture-spraycan
art, emceeing, deejaying/turntablism, and breakin'
(b-boying and b-girling).
Why
BreakFest?
It is estimated
today 3,500 children drop out of school each day,
while another 130,000 children carry a gun to
school. Despite a booming economy, technological
innovations, and medical advances reaching new
zeniths, millions of today's youth remain trapped
in these distressed neighborhoods. Drugs,
environmental racism, racial profiling,
miseducation, violence, and a plethora of other
conditions plague the neighborhoods they call
home. Under these conditions events like
BreakFest are now absolutely necessary.

Coral Springs (Maimi area)
special guests, battles in all elements,
performances, spoken word/artist showcases,
discussion panels, and an art exhibition (graff
style). Cash prizes, gear, and trophies will be
issued to winners. For the first time ever,
BreakFest, will feature a live hip hop awards
presentation and beatboxing. 1,000 EXPECTTED!!!
